Overview
HeartMath periodically releases updates for emWave Pro, Pro Plus, and the emWave2 software. These updates often include improved sensor detection, new Visualizers, and bug fixes. Before checking for updates, verify that your computer has a stable internet connection.
Step-by-Step Update Procedure
1. Locate the Update Menu The location of the update command depends on your computer’s operating system:
- Windows Users: Look at the top menu bar of the emWave home screen. Click on the word Help to open the drop-down menu, then click Check for Updates…
- Mac Users: Click on the word emWave Pro in the top-left corner of your screen (next to the Apple icon) and select Check for Updates…
2. Interpret the Prompt
- “No updates available”: Your software is already at the latest version. No further action is required.
- “Update available”: A dialog box will appear asking if you would like to download the new version.
3. Download and Install Click the Download (or Yes) button.
- The software will begin downloading the update file in the background.
- Once the download is complete, you will receive a prompt to begin the installation.
- Important: You may be asked to close the emWave application during the installation process. Ensure all your Sessions are saved before proceeding.
Troubleshooting Update Issues
- Permissions: On some corporate or hospital networks, you may need administrative privileges to install new software. If the update fails, contact your IT department.
- Firewalls: If the software cannot “see” the update server, ensure that emWave is allowed through your computer’s firewall settings.
- Manual Downloads: If the internal update tool does not work, you can always visit the HeartMath Downloads page to download the full installer for the latest version manually.
