The Training Journal is a powerful feature within the emWave Software (emWave PRO and emWave2) that allows you to record your thoughts, feelings, and observations for any given session. By documenting your emotional state alongside your coherence scores, you can better identify patterns, stressors, and techniques that work best for you.
Steps to Add a Journal Entry
- Open the Software: Launch emWave PRO or the emWave2 software on your computer.
- Access Review Progress: Click the Review Progress button (represented by a bar graph icon) at the top of the main screen.
- Select a Session: In the database list on the left side of the screen, click on the specific session you wish to journal about.
- Open the Journal View:
- Click the Journal tab located near the top of the session data view.
- Alternatively, click the Journal icon (pencil and paper) in the top toolbar.
- Enter Your Notes: Click inside the text box and begin typing. You might include:
- Your mood before and after the session.
- Any distractions or stressors you encountered.
- Specific visualizations or heart-focused techniques you used.
- Saving: The software automatically saves your text as you type or when you navigate away from the tab.
Editing or Deleting Entries
- To Edit: Simply return to the Journal tab for that session and modify the text.
- To Delete: Highlight the text in the Journal entry and press the “Delete” or “Backspace” key on your keyboard.
Benefits of Journaling in emWave
- Contextualize Data: HRV data is more meaningful when you know what was happening in your life at the time of the recording.
- Track Progress: Over time, you can see how your ability to reach high coherence improves despite various life challenges.
- Identify Triggers: Journaling helps you pinpoint specific thoughts or situations that consistently lead to low coherence (the “Red” zone).
Syncing Note (emWave2 Users)
If you are using the emWave2 handheld device, remember that you must Sync your device with the computer software before you can add journal entries to those specific sessions in the database.
