Overview
Beta blockers and calcium channel blockers typically do not interfere with the emWave system. In many cases, these medications can actually improve the system’s ability to read your pulse by relaxing muscle walls and widening blood vessels.
Factors That May Affect Readings
While beta blockers are compatible, certain other factors can interfere with the device’s accuracy:
-
Vasoconstrictors: Unlike beta blockers, medications that constrict blood vessels will likely interfere with emWave readings.
-
Heart Irregularities: Conditions such as atrial fibrillation, flutter, or intense clusters of PVCs may make it difficult to use the system successfully.
-
Physical Movement: Users (including children) who are unable to sit still may experience inconsistent results.
