How do I adjust the Session Length?

Overview

The session length setting determines how long the software will record and analyze your heart rhythm before automatically stopping the session. While the software allows for extended periods of use, adjusting the duration can help you tailor your practice to your current schedule and goals.

Adjusting the Duration

You must have the emWave PRO or emWave2 software installed on your computer to make these changes.

For Mac Users:

  1. Open the emWave PRO or emWave2 application.

  2. In the top Apple menu bar, click on the application name (e.g., emWave PRO).

  3. Select Preferences from the dropdown list.

  4. Locate the Session Length field and enter your preferred duration.

For PC (Windows) Users:

  1. Open the emWave PRO or emWave2 application.

  2. Click on the Edit menu at the top of the program window.

  3. Select Preferences.

  4. Enter the number of minutes you would like for your session in the Session Length box.

Technical Constraints & Recommendations

  • Maximum Limit: The maximum session time permitted by the software is 60 minutes. This is also the default setting.

  • Training Philosophy: The ultimate goal of HeartMath technology is to train your body to reach a state of coherence at will, even when you are not connected to a device.

  • Best Practices: To build this “muscle memory” effectively, we recommend practicing 5 to 10-minute sessions. Short, consistent practice helps your nervous system recognize and return to the optimum state of coherence more quickly than infrequent, long sessions.
