Adjusting the HRV Scale in emWave Pro

The HRV (Heart Rate Variability) scale determines how your heart rhythm data is displayed on the graph. By default, the emWave program uses automatic scaling to fit your data into the window. However, you may want to manually adjust this scale to either see more granular detail (BPM and Time) or to view a longer range of your session at once.

How to Manually Adjust the Scale

  1. Access the View Menu: While the emWave program is open, look at the top navigation bar and click on the View tab.

  2. Open the Scale Settings: From the drop-down menu, select the option Show HRV Scale.

  3. Enable Manual Mode: In the dialog or panel that appears, check the box labeled Enable Manual Controls.

  4. Configure Your View: Once manual controls are enabled, you can input specific values or use the available toggles to adjust the vertical axis (Beats Per Minute) and the horizontal axis (Time).

Important Considerations

  • Default Settings: If you find that the graph is difficult to read after making changes, simply uncheck the “Enable Manual Controls” box. The program will immediately revert to its optimized default scaling.

  • Session Visibility: Using a larger time scale is useful for reviewing a long session in one view, while a shorter time scale is better for real-time practice as it shows immediate responses to breathing changes.

Troubleshooting

If the HRV scale does not appear after selecting “Show HRV Scale,” ensure your application window is maximized. On some screen resolutions, side panels may be hidden if the window is too small.
