Whether you are preparing to give your emWave2 to a new user or simply want to start your training history with a clean slate, “wiping” the device is a simple process managed through the desktop software.
1. Why Wipe Your Device?
-
Privacy: If you are selling or gifting the device, wiping it ensures your personal session history is removed.
-
Database Management: If you have filled the internal memory (which holds about 15-20 hours of session data), wiping it allows you to start fresh.
-
Troubleshooting: In rare cases of software glitches on the handheld unit, a device wipe can act as a “soft reset” for the internal database.
2. Preparation
Before wiping, ensure that any sessions you wish to keep have been synced to your emWave software.
-
Connect the emWave2 via USB.
-
The software should automatically prompt you to “Sync” or “Download” sessions.
-
Once the sync is complete, your data is safely stored on your computer/HeartCloud, and you can proceed with the wipe.
3. Step-by-Step Instructions
-
Launch the Software: Ensure you are using the latest version of the emWave2 or emWave Pro software.
-
Access Preferences:
-
Windows: Click Edit in the top menu bar, then select Preferences.
-
Mac: Click emWave2 (or emWave Pro) in the top menu bar, then select Preferences.
-
-
Navigate to the Device Tab: Look for the tab labeled Device or emWave2.
-
Execute the Wipe:
-
Locate the button labeled “Wipe Device” or “Clear All Sessions from Device.”
-
A confirmation dialog box will appear. Click Yes or Confirm.
-
-
Completion: The lights on your emWave2 may flash momentarily. Once the software confirms the process is complete, the device is now empty.
4. What This Does NOT Do
-
Does not delete your computer database: Wiping the handheld device only affects the internal memory of the hardware. Your saved sessions on your Mac or PC remain untouched.
-
Does not reset firmware: This process clears user data but does not change the firmware version of the device.
