In the Inner Balance App, auditory feedback is designed to help you stay in the “heart zone” without needing to constantly monitor your device’s display. These tones serve as a guide for your emotional and physiological state.
1. Coherence Level Shifts
The app monitors your heart rhythm and categorizes it into Low, Medium, and High coherence.

Upward Shift (Ascending Tone): When you shift into a more ordered heart rhythm, the app plays a higher-pitched, ascending chime. This is your signal that your heart-focused breathing and emotional shift are working.

Downward Shift (Descending Tone): If your heart rhythm becomes less ordered due to stress, distraction, or movement, a lower-pitched, descending chime will play. This is a gentle reminder to re-center your focus and return to the technique.
2. Sensor and Signal Alerts
If the app can no longer track your pulse, it will provide an audible warning.

The “Artifact” or Error Tone: A distinct double beep sounds if the sensor is moved, falls off, or if the connection is interrupted. If you hear this, check the ear sensor placement and ensure you are sitting still.
3. Goal and Achievement Sounds
Depending on your settings, the Inner Balance App may play additional sounds to celebrate your progress:

Session Completion: A rewarding melody plays when your session time is finished.

Coherence Points: Some users enable sounds that chime every time a certain number of coherence points are earned, providing a continuous sense of “earning” your way into a balanced state.
4. Customizing Your Audio
You can adjust or mute these sounds within the app settings:

Open the Inner Balance App.

Navigate to Sound Settings.

Toggle Coherence Tones or Timer Sounds on or off according to your preference.
Tip for Success: Using the coherence tones is one of the best ways to practice “eyes-closed” meditation. Once you become familiar with the high and low chimes, you can simply listen for the feedback to know when you have successfully shifted your internal state.
