How to Fix “Fetch Row” or “Disk I/O” Errors in emWave

Overview

Database errors like “Fetch Row” or “Disk I/O” occur when the software can no longer communicate with your user history file. This is often caused by a sudden system shutdown, file permission issues, or underlying database corruption.

Step 1: Resetting the Database File

By renaming the database file, you force the software to create a fresh, uncorrupted database.

  1. Close the emWave software completely.
  2. Open your File Explorer (Windows) or Finder (Mac).
  3. Navigate to your Documents folder and locate the emWave folder.
  4. Inside the emWave folder, find the file named emwave.emdb.
  5. Right-click the file and rename it to original.emdb.
  6. Relaunch the software. It will automatically generate a new, empty database.

Step 2: Reinstalling the Software (If Needed)

If the error persists after resetting the database, the software files themselves may be compromised.

  1. Uninstall: Go to your system’s Control Panel or Applications folder and uninstall the emWave software.
  2. Reinstall: Download the latest version of emWave Pro from the official HeartMath website.
  3. Follow the on-screen installation prompts to complete the setup.
