The user’s age and gender information aren’t a factor in the coherence calculations.
The software program was originally planned to have a feature to compare age/gender heart rate variability norms against the user’s heart rate variability statistics. This feature was not implemented so the age and gender entries in the User Information screen don’t need to be entered and are useful only for documentation purposes or assessments.
However, if you have the emWave Pro Plus with the Assessments feature the age information is needed to generate accurate assessment reports. The Assessments feature uses age related normative data for comparison data ranges.
Gender still does not play a part in these comparisons. We actually found little difference between genders in our original study. Age however, did play a significant role in the amplitude of Heart Rate Variability.
