How to Fix Display Size and Scaling Issues in emWave Software

Overview

On modern high-resolution monitors (such as 4K displays or Surface Pro tablets), software like emWave can sometimes appear tiny, blurry, or oddly proportioned. This happens when Windows attempts to automatically scale the application. Following these steps will force Windows to render the application at the correct size.

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Locate the Shortcut: Find the emWave icon on your Desktop or Home screen.
  2. Open Properties: Right-click on the icon and select Properties from the menu.
  3. Access Compatibility Settings: In the Properties window, click on the Compatibility tab at the top.
  4. Disable Fullscreen Optimizations: Check the box labeled “Disable fullscreen optimizations”.
  5. Adjust DPI Settings: Click the button labeled “Change high DPI settings”.
  6. Enable Overrides:
    • Check the box under Program DPI.
    • Check the box under High DPI scaling override.
  7. Select Enhanced Scaling: In the drop-down menu under “Scaling performed by:”, select System (Enhanced).
  8. Save Changes: Click OK to close the DPI window, then click Apply and OK on the main Properties window.
  9. Restart Application: Open the emWave software. The interface should now appear crisp and essentially “normal” sized.
